Japanese cooking class (Sushi)

Saturday afternoon, with a group of 6 participants - a lot of fun!!  Some were very very good with their hands and the sushi rolls came out beautiful and perfect!

I prepared some new ingredients for the sushi fillings to try-out: grilled paprika, dried tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, marinated smoke salmon.  Let's see how it tastes!

Here's a photo from one of the participants, having the handmade sushi for dinner at home.  Beautiful!!!

Japanese cooking class (Sushi)

Saturday morning, sushi class with a group of fun Mexican ladies 🇲🇽.  Some were very high-level cookers, bringing a lot of great questions and insights for my lesson.  I was so fascinated that Mexican ladies put up their hair just before they begin to cook and let down their hair just as they finish cooking and as I ask them to pose for a photo! 📷 lovely!!

Japanese cooking class (Sushi)

Friday morning, I had my third sushi class.  It was interesting to learn that in Honduras, bananas are used as sushi fillings!  - inventions of fusion dishes. 🍌

My new Take-away service started!!

I've started my take-away service on EatSmart (https://www.eatsmart.community/).  EatSmart is a Swiss-orignal startup company founded in Cham.  It allows you to get reasonably priced food to go from restarants and private households.  Users need to register to browse the available menus, but registration is very simple.  To find my menu, enter the Postleitzahl '6005'.

My menu:
1) Japanese Handmade Fresh Sushi
(made just prior to pickup, so it's very fresh!!)

2) Japanese Tomato Curry Rice
(it's very healthy!! with lots of vegies pureed: zucchini, carrots, aubergine, celery, onions, garlic, ginger, and tomatoes. mild spice)

Pickup dates (when I cook) are not fixed at the moment, so sign-up for the Eatsmart newsletter and you'll receive periodical notifications.

Pickup location is my home.  If there are more than 10 meals ordered together, I could try to organize delivery.

If you have eny special requests for a menu, please email me and I'll try to organize!!

Sushi class participant feedback!

A participant of the sushi class made some sushi at home and sent me some photos and the actual hand-made sushi for me to taste!  They tasted faaaaantastic - and I found that sushi tastes even better when someone makes it for you!! It's a great feeling to know what I've taught has been useful.

Japanese cooking class (Sushi)

Second sushi class. It's very interesting to learn that some people were not aware that sushi is made with vinegar rice. 'Su' from 'Su-Shi' in means vinegar in Japanese and so we mix the vinegar to the steamed rice to make sushi rice.

One participant commented that sitting at the table together and preparing a meal (in this case rolling sushi!) reminds her childhood on the farm when her family got together at the table and worked. It was a very 'cozy' comment. I appreciated it very much.

We had a great time rolling sushi and tasting it as we rolled. 🍣 😋 We had an enjoyable afternoon together!
